On Wednesday, Aug. 20, officers with the Chanute Police Department were following up on an investigation. Officers located items associated with illegal drug use. Officers arrested Jaedyn Spencer, 21, Iola, for possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, possession of paraphernalia and transporting an open container.
On Sunday, Aug. 24, officers with the Chanute Police Department conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of Steuben Avenue and Walnut Street. Officers spoke to persons involved. Officers arrested Tonya Smith, 51, Humboldt, for distribution of methamphetamine within 1000 feet of a school, possession of paraphernalia, failure to signal turn and no insurance.
On Tuesday, Aug. 26, officers with the Chanute Police Department responded to the 200 block of West 4th Street for a domestic disturbance. Officers spoke to persons involved. Officers arrested Brian Shields, 57, Chanute, for domestic battery and criminal threat.

Upon completion reports will be forwarded to Neosho County Attorney’s Office for review and consideration of charges being filed. All suspects are presumed innocent, unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
