William Everett Augustine

HESSTON— William Everett Augustine, 82, passed away Sept. 4, 2025.

He was born on Aug. 14,1943 to Harold & Louise (Sneed) Augustine at home outside of Walnut. He married Joan Culbertson on Sept. 5, 1964 at Big Creek United Methodist Church. Bill attended Walnut Schools and Stark Joint Rural High School, where he met his wife Joan Culbertson and many life-long friends.

Bill and Joan lived the majority of their lives in and near Chanute. Bill worked for the State of Kansas for most of his career. Bill had many hobbies that he enjoyed, including hunting and fishing. Bill especially loved archery. Bill owned a hobby business, known as Augustine Archery for 40 years. He loved encouraging others to pursue archery. Bill loved racquetball, softball, weightlifting and swimming.

His faith in Christ was important to Bill. He was an active member of Westview Baptist Church in Chanute, and later Immanuel Baptist Church in Newton.

Bill will be remembered for his positive attitude, his sense of humor, his determination as well as his love for his Savior and his family and friends.

Bill is survived by his wife, Joan, their two daughters and their families: Cindy (John) Reimer, Christy (Jim) Brenneman, four grandchildren, Kylie (Chance Hollern), Grant Brenneman, Abigail (Luke) Borton, and Elyse Reimer, and two great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, Sept. 12, 2025 at Eastlawn Cemetery, rural Hesston. Memorial services will follow at 11 a.m., Friday at Immanuel Baptist Church, 1515 N. Anderson, Newton, KS, 67114. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bluestem Communities in care of Miller- Ott Funeral Home, P.O. Box 32, Hesston, KS, 67062.
