Chanute BPW prepares for National Business Women Week

The Chanute Business and Professional Women’s Club met Wednesday, Aug. 20 for a regular meeting, with Kathy Williams serving as hostess. No program was given due to an unanticipated delay.

Members discussed National Business Women Week, which is recognized the third week of October. This year the dates fall on Oct. 19-25.

Members discussed potential speakers, and reaching out to the City of Chanute for a formal proclamation to be given.

Kathy will put together a poster to place at a downtown business, and share the information on the club’s Facebook page. President Sharon Carpenter will be coordinating with the Chanute Tribune for National Business Women Week.

Tayah Williams provided the July minutes, and Linda Powers provided the Treasurer’s Report.

Members also discussed the State Fall Conference, Oct. 4-5 in Salina. Kathy said she would attend in support of Elizabeth Meigs who will be a speaker at the event.

Jen Brown donated prize items for Credo Assisted Living, which were appreciated by the residents according to Carpenter.

The next Chanute BPW meeting will be held Wednesday, Sept. 10, with Linda Powers as hostess. Those interested in attending or learning more can contact Sharon Carpenter at 620-431-8532.
