Red Devils win four as part of hot start to volleyball season

ERIE — Off to a blazing hot start to the fall campaign, the Erie Red Devils went 4-0 in a pair of volleyball triangulars to begin a busy week.

Erie hosted Caney Valley and Cherryvale on Monday, beating both.

The Red Devils needed three sets to down Caney Valley, 2-1 (15-25, 25-13, 25-22). Erie then took down Cherryvale, 2-1 (25-22, 21-25, 25-21).

Stats were unavailable for Erie’s home matches on Monday.

Heading to St. Paul on Tuesday, the Red Devils took down Pleasanton, 2-0 (25-16, 25-19).

Lila Michael, a junior, led Erie with eight kills on 15 attempts. Erie’s offense mounted a .543 kill percentage.

Lillee Fawel and Kylie Hodgden each paced Erie with four digs while Kaeleigh Daniels amassed 14 assists in the win over Pleasanton.

Erie then took down St. Paul, 2-1 (24-26, 25-13, 25-23).

Hodgden elevated for 12 kills for the Red Devils. Michael tallied six blocks while Andi Nordt added four.

Gawell had 16 digs while Daniels added 10 to go along with a dozen assists.

Up next

Erie, now 7-2 on the young season, has another home triangular on Sept. 8.
