KANSAS CITY — Doris Fern Neagle of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away on Friday, Aug. 22, 2025 at the age of 90.
Doris was born on Dec. 25th, 1934, in Lowry City, Missouri, to Horace and Rosa (Cross) Mackey. She was raised and went to school in the Lowry City area. Doris moved to Kansas City and married Keith B. Neagle of Chanute, on Feb. 13, 1955.
They had three children, Mitzi, Mike and Vicki. During the course of her life Doris was a homemaker, had a civil service career at the Corps of Engineers, retired, received her Associates degree in Childhood Development, and opened her own licensed daycare center (her dream for many years,) and retired again.
She was a faithful member of the Good Hope Missionary Baptist Church for over 60 years and her faith in God was the foundation of her life. Doris is survived by her husband Keith, her daughters Mitzi (Steve) Woody of Normal, Illinois, and Vicki Neagle (Bruce Hopper) of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, and grandchildren Stephanie and Michelle Woody.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents, son Mike, two sisters: Mildred Nible, Virginia Carter; and two brothers: Ross and Edgar Mackey.
Public services will be at the Charter Funeral Home, 77 NE 72nd Street, Gladstone, Missouri. Visitation: Friday, Sept. 26, 5-7 p.m.; Funeral Service: Sept. 27, 1 p.m.
A private burial will be held Sept. 28, Mt. Moriah Cemetery, Savonburg, Kansas, 1 p.m.
