The monthly meeting of the Jolly Jayhawkers 4-H Club meeting was held on Sunday, Sept. 21, at 1 p.m.. at the Stark Community Building. The Club started the meeting by assisting the Stark Community Building Committee in a work day to prepare the playground for new equipment and additional clean up work.
Vice President Caysen Cosby called the meeting to order with Evan Dillinger leading the club in the Flag salute. Secretary Owen Coover read the monthly roll call of “What is one goal that you have for the upcoming 4-H Year?” The roll was answered by 13 members, two cloverbuds, two leaders and seven guests. The August meeting minutes were read and approved.
Club Leader Rachele Cosby gave the Leader’s report reminding members the upcoming deadline for record books as well as upcoming National 4-H Week and important dates. Reporter Braxton Clasen gave the reporter’s report stating that the monthly report had been sent to the local papers as well as the Southwind Extension District Facebook Page. Reports were given by the 4-H council representative about the upcoming meeting scheduled for the conclusion of Officer training as well as the Fairboard Representative reporting that there will be new and exciting events happening at the 2026 County Fair.
The new business portion of the meeting included setting up Committees and Club advisory committees with parent led volunteers. Officer elections were slated with the following being elected as the 2026 Officers: President: Caysen Cosby, V. President: Evan Dillinger, Secretary: Aubrey Taylor, Treasure: Braxton Clasen, Reporter: Brynn Wolken, Parliamentarian- Owen Coover, Jr. President: Ellie Dillinger, Jr. V. President: Cooper Simmons, Jr. Secretary: Sophia Coover, Jr. Reporter: Brecken Clasen, 4-H Council Representatives: Caysen Cosby and Owen Coover, Braxton Clasen and Aubrey Taylor- Alternatives, Historian: Arlo Mattox, Song Leaders: Hollie Simmons, Cole Wolken and Olivia Taylor, Recreation: Guy Taylor, Bella Uden, and Arlo Mattox.
The Club voted to spend National 4-H Sunday together by attending church service at the First Christian Church in Erie on Sunday, Oct.19 with a potluck brunch and meeting to follow.
Ellie Dillinger introduced the program for the month. Guy Taylor gave a project talk over his success at the county fair. Brecken Clasen led the club in singing Happy Birthday to the September Birthdays. Braxton Clasen finished out the meeting by leading the club in the 4-H Pledge.
The next monthly meeting for the Jolly Jayhawkers will be held on Sunday, Oct. 19th at 9 a.m. at the First Christian Church in Erie for 4-H Sunday.
