Chanute Police Department

Saturday, Sept. 20: CPD conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of Ash Street and Kansas Avenue. Officers spoke to persons involved and arrested Joseph Markham, 35, Chanute, for possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, possession of paraphernalia, driving while suspended and failure to produce valid insurance.

Sunday Sept. 21: CPD conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of 44th Street and Santa Fe Avenue in reference to a theft that had just occurred. Officers spoke to persons involved and arrested Rachel Haslett, 26, Parsons, for theft, criminal trespass, illegal tag display and unlawful acts involving theft detection devices.

Monday, Sept. 22: On Saturday, Sept. 20, CPD started an investigation into a stalking complaint. Officers spoke to persons involved. On Monday, Sept. 22, officers arrested Jared Ewan, 34, Chanute, for stalking.

Monday, Sept. 22: CPD responded to the 1500 block of South Santa Fe Avenue for a reported criminal threat. Officers spoke to persons involved and arrested Roger Maynard, 30, Chanute, for criminal threat and pedestrian under the influence.

Wednesday, Sept. 24: CPS responded to the 700 block of West Cherry Street for a reported hit and run accident. Officers spoke to persons involved. Officers located and arrested Kayla Platt, 38, Chanute, for DUI, failure to stop at an accident, interference with law enforcement, endangering a child and disorderly conduct.

The Chanute Police Department informs the community of these arrests on the Chanute Police Department Facebook Page. Upon completion reports will be forwarded to Neosho County Attorney’s Office for review and consideration of charges being filed. All suspects are presumed innocent, unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
