CHERRYVALE — A furious second half comeback falling just short, the Cherryvale Chargers fell to the Riverton Rams at home, 37-27, in Week 4 on Friday night.
“We started out a little slow on both sides of the ball,” Cherryvale head coach Harry Hester said. “We were down, 24-0, at halftime. We came out and moved the ball well and were down 31-7. We cut it to 31-27 with three minutes left. In the second half, we played hard and just came up short in the end.”
Cherryvale rushed for 250 yards as a team while Riverton ran for 269.
Zeke Thornton led the Chargers with 85 yards while Wyatt Duncan added 64. Thornton also had a pair of touchdowns, while Ethan Umbarger and Caleb Stone each had one rushing score.
Noah Parker paced Riverton with 149 yards on the ground on 16 carries with one touchdown.
The loss dipped Cherryvale to 2-2 overall on the season.
