Southeast Sunflowers to visit pumpkin patch

The Southeast Sunflowers 4-H Club held its regular monthly meeting on Sunday, Sept. 14, 2025, in St. Paul with the parent-led meeting. President Codi Smith called the meeting to order with the flag salute. Standing in as a Junior secretary, Gracyn Beachner took roll call, which was “Name a school supply that starts with the first letter of your name.” The treasurer’s report was then given by Jody Brown.

Leader Heather Vogel then gave the leader’s report, which included reminding the club about enrollment starting for the 4-H year on October 1st. Officer training will take place on Sunday, October 26th, in Moran. Record books, along with Secretary, Historian, and Reporter’s books, need to be turned in to Heather by September 22nd for her to review. The medallion award plaques are available to order again through the extension office to display the medallions you receive at the achievement banquet, costing $10.

Heather Beachner gave the reporter’s report. Devin gave a parliamentary report to the club about the proper way to address the president of the club.

Under new business, the club voted to take a club trip to the Wehlage Pumpkin patch farm in Chanute at the Oct. 12 meeting. The club will go to church that morning at St. Francis Catholic Church in St. Paul, and then go to the pumpkin patch following church.

The club also elected new officers for the new 4-H year, and they are as follows: Cashlee Smith, President; Devin Vogel; Vice President, Khloe Brown; Secretary, Cassie Vitt; Treasurer, Jackson Beachner; Reporter. Gracyn Beachner; Caisley Smith, Emma Kintzer and Arianna Maples, Historians. Cassie Vitt, Khloe Brown, and Jackson Beachner, 4-H Council Representatives; Devin Vogel, Fairboard Representative; Bryton and Gracyn Beachner, Song Leaders; Bryton Beachner, Junior President; Abby Unruh, Junior Vice President; and Gracyn Beachner, Junior Secretary/ Treasurer.

The club also voted to do some sort of 4-H item to hand out at the school in recognition of 4-H week in October. Song leaders then lead the club in singing “Happy Birthday” to the September birthdays. Devin Vogel gave the Vice President report of next month’s meeting, being held on Oct. 12, at 10 A.M. at the St. Francis church, followed by the pumpkin patch in Chanute. The meeting adjourned with the 4-H pledge.
