Janis Reinhardt, president of the Leamona Family Community Education group opened the Oct. 2 meeting with roll call asking about a current event. Debbie Goodner, chairperson for the Christmas tree to be displayed at the Art Gallery during the holiday season, discussed the kind of decorations to be make. Goodner has given the tree the name “A Child’s Imagination of Christmas.” The club will meet on Oct. 20 to make decorations.
Also discussed was who would be attending the State Conference in Dodge City, Oct. 9-11. Those planning to attend were Mary Dunn, Jackie Ward, Debbie Goodner and Janis Reinhardt. In other business, members discussed the fall council meeting in Parsons on Nov. 6. Jackie Ward will give the memorial for Nancy Kernick who was an FCE member in Erie and had been the FCE State President.
Election of officers was held. Officers as elected are: President Janis Reinhardt, Vice President Mary Dunn, Secretary Mary Jane Burghart, Treasurer Janis Reinhardt, Reporter Sharon Carpenter, Historian Debbie Goodner, and Hostess Jackie Ward.
Lessons for next year were handed out and members are to look them over and choose which one they wish to present. The program on pumpkins is to be a group lesson with each member bringing something to share.
