CHANUTE — Hosting the KSHSAA 4A Sub-State Girls Golf Tournament at Stone Creek Golf Course, the Chanute Blue Comets finished as runner-up to qualify the entire team to the state tournament.
Wellington won the substate title, posting a score of 341 strokes. Chanute claimed second with 398 strokes, followed by Coffeyville (399), Winfield (400), Independence (439), Frontenac (479) and Labette County (514).
Winfield’s Lilly Sympson won first place individually with a score of 82 strokes. Wellington claimed the next five spots — Taryn Viramontes (82), Kaselynn Carroll (83), Presley Cornejo (88), Claire Ginter (88 and Georgia Gulick (89). Coffeyville’s Jessica Zimmerman (89) and Avery Sells (92) took seventh and eighth, respectively.
Chanute’s Delaney Hastings (92) and Frontenac’s Ella Niederklein (94) rounded out the top-10.
Other Chanute golfers included Layla Reinecke taking 14th (101), Rainey Carter 16th (102), Maddie Kepley 17th (103) and Lovie Cosby 20th (106).
