Chanute Art Gallery presents Sew n’ Sew Guilt Guild Quilt Month

The Annual Quilt Show created by Sew ‘n Sew Guilt Guild is back. Members of the guild have chosen their favorites to share with gallery visitors through Friday, Nov. 14.

Again, this year Sew ‘n Sew is offering the chance to receive the opportunity quilt. Tickets are $1 each or 6 for $5. The project provides funds to support local charitable projects.

Many of the quilts have a story to tell about their origin, such as, “Variation of Lost Ship” owned and quilted by Jean Cross. The family story about the history of this quilt extends all the way back to post-civil war fabric. Those who visited the gallery during Artist Alley will remember seeing Jean quilt in her hoop frame.

The Patio features Quilts of Honor which are made to be given to Veterans to recognize their service to the United States. Any service member or living veteran who served in one of the following branches: Army, Marines, Navy, Air Force and Coast Guard have been chosen to receive a quilt. Members of the activated National Guard and activated or active-duty special work reservists are included. This year, quilts will be presented on Nov. 14 at 3:30 pm.

The Gallery is open Tuesday through Saturday from noon to 4 p.m. Admission is free and donations are always welcome. Tours can be arranged by calling the gallery at 620-4317807 or by emailing thechanuteartgallery@ gmail.com.
