HUMBOLDT — Catching fire at the right time, the Humboldt Cubs won their second game in a row over the West Franklin Falcons, 40-20, in Week 7 action on Friday night.
Gavin Gunderman lit up the box score for the Cubs, tallying 103 rushing yards and a score on the ground while adding 86 aerial yards and two more touchdowns.
Kolton Hanson and Broc Ivy each hauled in a touchdown catch for Humboldt.
Envy Oberbeck, a freshman, led Humboldt with 10 tackles including two for a loss. Ivy added nine stops with three behind the line of scrimmage including a sack.

Now 3-4 overall and 2-1 in district play, the Cubs can lock up the No. 2 seed in their Class 2A bracket with a win over Central Heights in Week 8.
