Ross Wade Pitts

PITTSBURG — Ross Wade Pitts, 35, of Pittsburg, passed away on Sept. 26, 2025. He was born on May 28, 1990, at Neosho Memorial Hospital in Chanute.

He graduated from Chanute High School, in 2008.

He is survived by his children — Joshua, Madison, Bryson, Cayson, and Arabella — and the mother of his children, Jodi, all of Pittsburg. He is also survived by his mother and stepfather, Beth and Jeff Winkler of Puyallup, Washington; his father, Scott Pitts of Pittsburg; his step mother Amy Semey of Chanute; his brothers, Austin (Kenzi) Pitts and Mathew Matlock, both of Chanute; and his sisters, Erika (Britt) Small of Overland Park, Kansas, and Bailey (Andrew) Todd of Lawrence.

He is further survived by his grandparents, Jeffery Young of Jefferson, New Hampshire; Lynne (Patrick) Miller of Kansas City, Missouri; and Ron Matlock of Buffalo; along with numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Ross was preceded in death by his grandparents A.L. and Sharlena Pitts of Chanute; Patricia “Patti” Matlock of Buffalo; and his uncle Ricci “Ric” Pitts of Chanute.

Ross was a loving and selfless individual who never hesitated to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He had a deep love for all animals and a kind heart that touched the lives of everyone who knew him. His faith was strong throughout his life — he was baptized both as a child and later again as an adult — a testament to his enduring belief and spiritual strength.

Ross will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all whose lives were brightened by his compassion and warmth.

A celebration of life will be held Nov. 1 at Flag Church in Pittsburg, Kansas. Doors open at 9:30 a.m. and services will begin at 10 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks all donations be left for The Lord’s Diner or his children.
