The former owner of Outsiders on Main has moved into a new restaurant venture.
Amy Calahan and the rest of the team at The Turn at Stone Creek celebrated with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Thursday, Oct. 16, hosted by the Chanute Area Chamber of Commerce.
Chamber Board President Stacy Atherton noted that Outsiders on Main was a thriving downtown business and that this move was an opportunity for Calahan to expand.
Atherton said the restaurant will be a good stop for golfers between the front and back nine holes at Stone Creek.
“On behalf of the City of Chanute, I want to thank you guys for utilizing the space, which is much needed,” Mayor Jacob LaRue said. “We’re so excited to have you guys out here. We hope you get the community support you guys deserve.”
Calahan extended gratitude to all who attended the ceremony on Thursday.
“I think our neighbors at the golf course have been more than welcoming and helpful, and kind, and we really appreciate it,” Calahan said. “This place is beautiful. We’re going to do our best to bring it back to life.”
Calahan said one of her favorite aspects of the new location is having additional space.
“It’s a beautiful building. It’s got a lot of potential,” Calahan said.
Calahan noted that much of the staff at Stone Creek has been with her for years, and this is an accomplishment for them as well.
“That means a lot too, to have that kind of retention and loyalty, and their willingness to do this and grow,” Calahan said.
