HUTCHINSON — Competing at the KSHSAA 4A Girls Golf State Championships, one Chanute golfer made the cut while the rest bowed out after Day 1 on Monday.
Chanute brought its entire team to the state tournament after finishing second at its home regional last week.
Wamego won the team state title, posting a twoday score of 658 strokes to win by 40. Wellington was runner-up with 698 strokes, followed by McPherson (701), Baldwin (708), Hayden (708) and Augusta (721).
Wamego’s Addison Douglass won the state title individually, shooting 145 over two days to finish three-over-par. Concordia’s Mya Niehues and McPherson’s Brodie Kuhn rounded out the top-three, respectively.
Chanute’s Maddie Kepley was the lone Blue Comets golfer to secure a bid to Day 2. She finished the tournament placing 33rd, shooting a 95 on Day 1 and an 88 on Day 2 to finish with a 183.
Chanute’s Delaney Hastings finished 60th (102), Rainey Carter 76th (109), Layla Reinecke 86th (122) and Lovie Cosby 89th (126).
