This year will mark five years since the beginning of the Thankful Trot 5k.
This year’s Thankful Trot will be held on Saturday, Nov. 1. Registration will begin at 8:15 a.m., with the race beginning at 9 a.m. at 2453 W. Main St. in Chanute.
The event raises funds for The Carlie Challenge, which also funds Chanute’s Fellowship of Christian Athletes’s Fields of Faith event.
Almond said over 700 people participated in the race last year.
“The most challenging is getting the word out, and praying for support to continue,” Almond said. “We have continued to be blessed by the community.”
According to Almond, one of her favorite things is seeing the community come out, and continuing her daughter Carlie’s legacy. Carlie died of a pulmonary embolism when she was a sophomore at Chanute High School in 2015.
“We hope to have even more people come out, have fun and live thankful you can walk or trot,” Almond said. “This December 31st will mark 10 years that Carlie has been gone, and we still love doing things for others in her memory.”
Attendees can walk or run the 5K race. Free will donations are accepted. For more information, contact Amy Almond at 620-433-2010.
