GALS FCE met October 20 in the Fellowship Hall of Humboldt Methodist Church for the monthly meeting with 13 members attending. Refreshments provided by Michelle McDown were enjoyed before the business meeting got underway.

National FCE Week was recognized by Kansas Governor Kelly and Fall Learning Day will be in Fort Scott. Sheree Scarrow updated members about the annual Halloween Parade set for October 31 at 5:15 pm. Members signed up to lead the age groups in the parade or hand out the treat bags. Holiday Market chairperson, Carol Bauer, reported 21 vendors have signed up so far for the December 6 event. Members approved a motion to adopt two families at Christmas this year with Scarrow and Vicki Wood doing the shopping.

President, Carol Bauer, presented the lesson, ‘Character Counts-Trustworthiness’, pointing out honesty, integrity, promise keeping and loyalty, all parts of being trustworthy, however the absence of even one part will damage a relationship.

GALS will meet next on November 17 at the church when Judy Arbeiter will give the lesson, ‘Good Wifely Manners’, and Terry Broyles will be hostess. Members contributed $28 to the Milk Voucher Project and recorded 25 hours volunteering. Persons interested in joining a fun service organization, while ‘learning’ from practical lessons, are invited to come join for the new year, or visit a meeting (third Monday) and get acquainted.
