Neosho County falls to Labette in opening dual

PARSONS — Hosting a season-opening wrestling dual, the Labette Cardinals took down the Neosho County Panthers, 40-9, on Thursday evening.

Neosho County’s lone bout wins came at the two heaviest weights — Draven Pipkin won a 6-4 decision over Labette’s Chance Meggs, while Cael Barber pinned Labette’s Gage Wingerter at heavyweight.

Labette opened the dual with seven bout victories.

Jackson Martin notched a 10-0 major decision over Tanner Putt at 125 pounds. David Ritchey followed that up with an 11-0 major decision victory over Roberto Burkettsantos at 133 pounds.

At 141 pounds, Labette’s Tucker Collinsworth won another 11-0 major decision over Evan Coble.

Michael Corbbrey won at an open weight for Labette at 149 pounds.

Labette’s Kyler Tabor pinned Neosho County’s Caden Smith at 157 pounds. At 165 pounds, Jais Rose won a major decision for the Cardinals over Kelton Howard.

At 174 pounds, Blake Hurt pinned Neosho County’s Joshua Moreau 56 seconds into the match.

Jacy Richardson pinned Neosho County’s Maleek Ayonrinde in the 184-pound bout.

Labette heads to Atchison on Friday and Saturday for the Loosbrook Duals. Neosho County hosts Murray State in a dual on Tuesday.
