Twenty-five Chanute High School students were inducted into the school’s National Honor Society chapter at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 6, in the CHS auditorium. The ceremony was led by NHS President Rainey Carter, with assistance from Vice President Ella Guernsey, Secretary Jarynn Hockett, Historian Shamirra Rice and Service Project Coordinator Ayden Cummings. Founded in 1921 by the National Association of Secondary School Principals, the National Honor Society recognizes students who exemplify the organization’s four pillars: scholarship, leadership, service and character. CHS students must maintain a 3.6 GPA and consistently demonstrate excellence in those four areas to qualify.
