KANSAS CITY — We all lost a true “gem” with the passing of Margaret Ann “Maggie” Hollenshead-Cobb on Dec. 22, 2025, at the age of 89.
Margaret Ann was born Sept. 29, 1936, in Norman, Oklahoma to Margaret B. and Howard H. Hollenshead.
The family soon moved back to Chanute, Kansas, where she spent most of her childhood. Maggie attended Emporia State University earning a degree in Library Science.
After college, Maggie made her way to Leavenworth, Kansas, where she met and married Robert Doran III and had her two sons, Rob and Matt.
As life goes sometimes, Maggie was once again single, building her career, raising her sons, and meeting new friends.
Thru the years, Maggie has made her home in Wichita, Houston, Chanute, Phoenix and finally Kansas City, Missouri. No matter where Mags lived, she made her home uniquely her own. Her sense of style and organization was impeccable.
Maggie loved animals. She had many dogs and cats, and each and every one was part of the family. She was also a big supporter of animal shelters.
Maggie had many friends who found her trustworthy, compassionate, and fun. There was always a bit of lighthearted sass and wit to her comments. She was a very smart lady with good ideas; her friends went to her for advice.
Margaret Ann is survived by her son Robert E. Doran IV (wife Lisa) of Kansas City, Missouri; and sister Lynn Saylor and husband, Richard of Boca Raton, Florida. She was preceded in death by son Matthew Howard Doran; father, Howard Hollenshead; mother, Margaret Berthot Hollenshead, and brother Hugh Hollenshead.
Maggie was truly one in a million and will be greatly missed.
