The Best Yet 4-H Club held its December meeting Sunday, Dec. 14, in the basement of Home Savings Bank in Chanute. President Tyler Kepley called the meeting to order at 4 p.m.
Members and leaders participated in the Pledge of Allegiance and the 4-H pledge, led by Sawyer. Roll call, answered by 23 members and four leaders, involved sharing what each wanted for Christmas.
Sam read the minutes from the November meeting, which were approved as read. Rylie presented the treasurer’s report, and Grace reported that the November reporter’s report had been submitted to the Chanute Tribune and the Southwind Extension Facebook page.
Leader Jill Kepley reminded members that the fair board dinner and auction will be held Feb. 14, 2025. She also noted changes in fair procedures, including adjustments to beef classification and an increased upper limit for sheep weight. Sarah Schoenecker shared that the fair board is asking clubs to submit name suggestions for the open class building.
During new business, Cassidy proposed that the open class building be named the “Sunflower” building. The motion, seconded by Laura, was carried.
Nolan moved to adjourn the business meeting with the 4-H motto, seconded by Kaiden, and the motion passed. The club celebrated December birthdays, and Laura presented a food talk on cinnamon and peppermint. The meeting concluded with members playing Christmas- themed games and enjoying a variety of treats.
