Blue Comets bested by Bulldogs

INDEPENDENCE — Allowing their opponents to shoot 52% from the floor, the Chanute Blue Comets girls fell to the Independence Bulldogs, 52-32, on Friday night in SEK League play.

Chanute briefly led, 2-0, before the Bulldogs claimed the lead for the rest of the night.

Independence connected on 22-of-42 shots from the floor, with all 22 field goals coming from 2-point range.

Kaylea Lemos led Independence with 21 points while Katelyn Spencer added 17.

Grace Luebbering led Chanute with a dozen points while Sarah Uhner added 10.

Chanute fell to 6-4 overall with the loss.

Up next

Chanute hosts the Ralph Miller Classic, which starts on Thursday. The Blue Comets will face De Soto in the first round.
