Susan K. Clifford

Susan K. Clifford of Chanute, Kansas, passed away January 17, 2026, at Neosho Memorial Regional Medical Center after a long, hard battle with ALS. Diagnosed in February of 2014, she was informed that she only had 3-5 years to live. Boy, she proved them wrong; as she put it, I’m going to fight this crazy disease and go on my own terms. That was almost 12 years ago.

Susan was born on March 31, 1958, the daughter of Lowell and Edna (Chandler) Morrison Sr. She grew up in Urbana and graduated from Erie High School, where she held numerous track records. She enjoyed bowling, playing pool, and taking a trip to the casinos. Susan was known for having a green thumb and could make any plant grow. Most importantly, she was always cheering the Chiefs on and in the last few years, became the “Sue-pervisor”, teaching Dan to cook. She worked 25 years at Nu-Wa Campers, then 5 years for PC Boards/Sierra Midwest, and on to Golden Knight Billiards until she had to stop working. She always enjoyed that afternoon crowd of regulars that came in and the Wednesday morning pool players.

She is survived by her loving husband, Dan of 47 years, daughter Traci (Ryan) Follmer, their children Kierny and Krew, whom G-Ma said were the best grandkids in the world, and son Josh Clifford. Brothers, Fred (Vickie) Matlock and Lowell Morrison Jr., Nephews Rick Nesbitt, Frank Nesbitt, Bryan Nesbitt, Damon Matlock, and Punk Matlock.

Preceded in death by her parents and sister, Myra Nesbitt.

Memorial Contributions can be made in her name to American Legion Auxiliary Post 170, Chanute, where she was a 15-year member.

Visitation will be held at Countryside Funeral Home on Sunday, January 25, 2026, with the family greeting friends from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm. A graveside service will be held at Memorial Park Cemetery in Chanute on Monday, January 26, 2026, at 1:00 pm. Services have been entrusted to Countryside Funeral Home.
