Lucille Marie Hainbach Cox

Lucille Marie Hainbach Cox

Lucille (Blondie) Marie Hainbach Cox passed away January 22, 2026. Blondie was born February 28, 1927, to Charles Christian and Evelyn Alice Egan Hainbach in Holton, Kansas. She graduated from Chanute High School in 1945. Blondie started working in high school as a waitress and continued to work at various jobs until she retired. Blondie married Orris Sheldon Cox in Iola, Kansas, on November 25, 1947. They were married for over 62 years until his death in February 2010. They had 3 children: Linda, Sandra and Steve. She was employed at James’ Market, waitressed in multiple restaurants and as a clerk at Nations Cleaners and various liquor stores. She worked at the Kansas Army Ammunition Plant in Parsons for several years. Blondie was employed at Kustom Electronics in March 1970 and retired from there in September 1993. Blondie donated at least 13 gallons of blood even though she had to skip several years due to giving birth to 3 children and fighting and defeating colon cancer. The most difficult part of giving blood for Blondie was keeping her weight high enough to donate. She finally had to stop donating a few years ago due to aging and her health. A very important part of Blondie’s life was her faith in Jesus Christ. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Orris, Linda Loach who was like a daughter, and her sisters Elizabeth Rankin and Karlene Gallagher. She is survived by her children Linda Cox of Ogden, Iowa, Sandy Cox and Steve Cox both of Chanute, her granddaughter Kyra McCormick of Chanute and multiple nieces, nephews and cousins. Blondie will be cremated and then buried in Altoona Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to Countryside Funeral Home. There will not be a funeral now, but a celebration of life will be held later in the Spring. In lieu of flowers please make donations to Castaways Animal Shelter and Sanctuary, P.O. Box 313, Chanute, KS.
