Questions continue to gather surrounding Ashley Clinic following SEKMHC’s CEO suspension

The recent attention on SEKMHC and the future of long time local medical facility Ashley Clinic in Chanute has local citizens concerned for how their care is going to continue.

As reported in The Tribune on Friday, the SEKMHC Board of Directors voted to suspend CEO Nathan Fawson with pay for 90 days due to questions from the state legislature regarding the operations of SEKMHC and the purchase of the Ashley Clinic.

As of press time today, there is no official word on the facility’s future, nor has any public information been provided by any local medical facility. Calls and emails have yielded no official response. However, the Kansas Board of Healing Arts requires physicians to give patients 60 days’ notice before shutting down a practice, and a public notice is recommended.

The Tribune has not received any such notice at this time.
