Joe Borjas

Joe Borjas, a beloved father and cherished friend, passed away on Monday, Nov. 4, 2024, at Midland Hospice Care.

Born on July 18, 1942, Joe embraced life with a passion that touched everyone around him. He made his living as a skilled crane operator, taking immense pride in his work at Chanute Manufacturing and the contributions he made throughout his career.

Joe’s spirit was as fruitful as the vegetable gardens he tended with love and care. When he wasn’t on the job or enjoying time in his backyard, you could find him indulging in his passions. Whether reveling in the excitement of a Kansas City Chiefs game or sharing tales of the Wild West while watching his favorite western films, Joe knew how to savor every moment. A proud Mexican American, he instilled a deep sense of cultural pride in his children, sharing stories of heritage that will endure through generations. Joe was a loving father who did the best that he could for his family.

Family meant everything to Joe. He leaves behind a legacy of love through his daughters, Carla (Cordel) Combs, Jennifer (Mike) Typer, Lisa (Jeffrey) Adams, Jackie (late-Todd) Borjas and Dawn (Gary) Crowl; his sons, Joseph (Melissa) Borjas and Gannon White; his brothers, Cecil (Patty) Borjas, Benny (Robyn) Borjas and Rueben (Angela) Borjas; and his sister, Maria Rita. All will hold his memory close to their hearts.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Jean; his parents, Ramon Borjas and his stepmother, Hazel Borjas, and mother, Matilda Godinez Schnedler; and brothers, Ramon Borjas and Richard Borjas. Joe’s spirit will forever live on in the stories, laughter and love he shared with all who knew him.

As we mourn the loss of this remarkable man, we celebrate a life lived to the fullest, with a heart as vast as the skies he worked beneath and a spirit that soared as high as a crane he’d expertly maneuver. Joe Borjas will be deeply missed but never forgotten.

The family suggests memorials to Midland Hospice Care, 200 S.W. Frazier Circle, Topeka, KS, 66606.
