KEPCL board elects officers
TOPEKA – Chuck Goeckel, general manager of Flint Hills Rural Electric Cooperative Association Inc. in Council Grove, was unanimously elected as president of Kansas Electric Power Cooperative Inc. (KEPCo), a generation and transmission (G&T) cooperative headquartered in Topeka.
KEPCo conducted the elections at its board meeting held on Nov. 22 in Wichita, where its board of trustees also elected the following trustee representatives to serve as its executive committee: vice president, Lori Jones, trustee at Ninnescah Rural Electric Cooperative Association Inc. in Pratt; secretary, Bryan Coover, president of the board of trustees at Twin Valley Electric Cooperative Inc. in Altamont; and treasurer, Chris Parr, CEO of FreeState Electric Cooperative Inc. in Topeka and McLouth. Along with the officers, the following individuals were elected to fill the three additional positions on the executive committee: Kevin Brownlee, CEO of Butler Electric Cooperative Association Inc. in El Dorado; Mark Scheibe, CEO of Heartland Rural Electric Cooperative Inc. in Girard; and Kirk Thompson, manager of CMS Electric Cooperative, Inc. in Meade.
Chanute USD 413 to meet Wednesday
The Chanute USD 413 Board of Education will meet at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 4, at the Education Support Center, 321 E. Main St., Chanute.
Erie, St. Paul blood drive
ST. PAUL — The Erie-St. Paul American Red Cross blood drive will be from 1 to 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 11, at the St. Francis Parish Hall in St. Paul. Call (800) 733-2767 to make an appointment.
Chess challenge at CHS is Dec. 14
The third Blue Comet Chess Community Chess Challenge will start at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 14, at the Chanute High School commons area. Registration opens at 9 a.m. and the first match begins at 10. The entry fee is a freewill donation, which will help the CHS chess team.
The event is open to all skill levels and gives the public a chance to play against CHS chess players. If you don’t know how to play chess, instruction will be available.
