Comet Chess Team Competes at Pittsburg:
The Chanute High School chess team competed in the Pittsburg tournament on Saturday. Chanute finished in first place with 18 points. Eric Erbe (right) and Jacob Hurtado both earned five points for the Comets, with Erbe finishing third and Hurtado fifth. Logan McMillan, Benjamin Blakesley and Brayden Baker each earned Chanute four points, with eighth, 10th and 11th place finishes. Nathan Studebaker and Madisyn Lopez each earned 3.5 points. Robb Quinn earned three points and Alex Kennedy and Brooklyn Espe each earned 2.5 points. There were 49 players at the tournament. Brayden Baker/ CHS photo
