A Neodesha man will soon make an initial appearance in court on possible kidnapping charges involving a Chanute woman.
Neosho County deputies arrested Jeremiah Knipp, 28, Neodesha, at a traffic stop on K-39 near Chanute Monday afternoon on suspicion of kidnapping a woman in his car. He was also booked into Neosho County Jail and is awaiting additional formal charges on possible aggravated assault and domestic battery.
Undersheriff Gregg Taylor said deputies received the report of the incident at 2:39 pm Monday and Knipp was stopped a few minutes later. Taylor said a kidnapping is whenever a person is held against their will and not allowed to leave, and Knipp and the victim were in a boyfriend-girlfriend relationship.
