Multiple law enforcement agencies were in and around Humboldt Wednesday in search of fugitive Aaron Hutton, a white male said to be 5’9” and 145 lbs with long black hair.
The suspect reportedly robbed an Iola business and was last seen south of Humboldt near Petrolia wearing boxer shorts and black socks.
Officers recovered a firearm, but still consider the suspect armed and dangerous.
Reports indicate the suspect jumped into the Neosho River. A boat was dispatched from Chanute Fire Department water rescue in order to retrieve the suspect, but no word of his apprehension was available before presstime at 8 pm Wednesday. A heavy law enforcement presence remained throughout the area in Allen County and beyond.
“We ask that everybody make sure they have taken the keys out of their vehicles and lock them,” Humboldt police said.
“If you see someone matching that description, please call 911 and do not attempt to apprehend them yourself.”
A lockdown at all Iola schools was enforced from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm and then ended.
Classes were not in session yet in Humboldt; students there begin their fall session today.
