A Petrolia man was jailed in Allen County over the weekend in the shooting death of a Chanute man.
Casey M. Dye, 43, Petrolia, was arrested for the murder of Ryan M. Holcomb, 45, Chanute.
Dye allegedly shot Holcomb Saturday morning on a rural property near Petrolia, and then brought the body to Neosho County, according to a news release from the Kansas Bureau of Investigation.
Dye turned himself in at the Allen County Sheriff’s Office at 4:50 pm Saturday and provided a statement. Officers found Holcomb’s body a short time later in a vehicle inside a building at an automotive glass shop on K-39 east of Chanute. Holcomb had suffered fatal gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Dye was arrested for first-degree murder and was booked into the Allen County jail. Formal charges are pending, and additional charges are expected.
The KBI and the Neosho County Sheriff’s Office are working with Allen County on the continuing investigation.
