Memorial Day 2021

Chanute citizens and members of the American Legion gathered Monday for Memorial Day observances in Memorial Park Cemetery.  At left, Mike Trumbull  salutes after laying the POW wreath.

Post Commander Rene Castillega was master of ceremonies and speaker, and events included the placing of wreaths for veterans of World War I and World War II, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion Auxiliary and prisoners of war. The ceremony also included the reading of the proclamation of Memorial Day, the Gettysburg Address and "In Flanders Field."
