John Robert Madl, 68, rural Walnut, died at 5:46 am Monday, January 22, 2018 at his home. He had been in failing health the past seven years.
He was born February 12, 1949 at rural Walnut, a son of John Cyril and Erville Catherine (Allen) Madl. He attended elementary school at Walnut and later attended St. Francis High School at St. Paul. Following high school he began working at the saw mill in St. Paul and later worked seventeen years as a welder at Blair Trailers. Most recently he and his wife operated a dog kennel at their home until his retirement.
He was united in marriage to Nina Mary Lindsey on September 13, 1968 at the St. Francis Catholic Church at St. Paul. She survives of the home.
He was Catholic. He enjoyed fishing, wood and metal work and was also a carpenter.

Hughes, Walnut, KS; Eight grandchildren; Thirteen great-grandchildren; Four brothers – Rodger Madl, Savonburg, KS, Dale Madl, Girard, KS, Gary Madl, Arkansas, David Madl, Frontenac, KS; Five sisters – Carolyn Hudson, Scammon, KS, Marry Johnson, McCune, KS, Betty Vance, Stark, KS, Donna Walters, Erie, KS, Jannet Shears, Parsons, KS.
He was preceded in death by two brothers – Christopher Madl and Paul Madl; and one sister – Alberta House.
Memorial services are scheduled to be held at 1:30 pm Friday, January 26, 2018 at the Carson-Wall Funeral Home at St. Paul with the Rev. Wayne Mason officiating. Inurnment will be in the Hope Cemetery at St. Paul. Friends may call from 1 pm until 7 pm Thursday at the funeral home and after 9 am Friday.
