Steven Wayne Berthot, 59, of Humboldt, KS, passed away on Aug. 21, 2019, at Ascension Via Christi Hospital in Wichita, KS. He was born on Nov. 17, 1959 in Wichita, KS, a son of Gary W. Berthot and Carolyn S. (Fuller) Berthot. He moved to Chanute with his family in 1972 to the family farm.
He graduated from Chanute Senior High School, Class of 1977, and was a graduate of West Point Military academy. Attending there 1977 to 1981.
On Dec. 2, 1994, he was united in marriage to Barbara Bennett in Chanute, KS. He spent several years working for Custom Campers and Hi-Lo Industries. Steve loved to garden and grow flowers. He was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Chanute, KS.
Survivors include: His wife, Barbara (Bennett) Berthot, of the home; three sons, Andrew Steven Berthot and girlfriend Broolyn, Anthony, KS, Daniel Kevin Berthot Chanute, KS, Robert Collins and wife, Desi, Petrolia KS, nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; two brothers, Kevin V. Berthot and wife, Renee’, Chanute, KS, and Adam W. Berthot, Overland Park, KS,; one sister, Mechele J. Guthrie and husband, Kevin, Humboldt, KS; his mother Carolyn S. Berthot, Chanute, KS; many nieces, nephews, aunts, great aunts, uncles, great uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father Gary W. Berthot and his grandparents.
Rosary will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 28 at 7 pm at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 424 S. Central, Chanute, KS., Father Mike Linnebur officiating. A family graveside burial will be at Hosey Hill Cemetery in Weir, KS at a later date.
