King Sam Brownback and his Cohorts
IN KANSAS, July 4, 2016.
The unanimous Declaration of the People of the State of Kansas concerning King Sam Brownback and his Cohorts in Topeka.
When in the course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation. The history of the present King Sam Brownback and his Cohorts is a history of repeated injuries and usurpations. To prove this, let facts be submitted to a candid world.
King Sam and his Cohorts have completely eliminated taxes on 330,000 Kansas business owners and farmers – but not on their employees – causing a drastic decline in monies needed for the proper upkeep of our State Services.
They have confiscated monies from our underfunded state employees’ pension funds, from our state highway maintenance programs, and from other entities, to pay for their government expenses, thus crippling the wellbeing of our state.
They have abrogated their constitutional obligations to properly fund our K-12 schools and have taken monies away from these schools causing administrative uncertainty and financial chaos among our school districts. They persist in attempting to eliminate their responsibility for school finance requirements from our State Constitution.
They have obstructed the Administration of Justice and attempted to make judges dependent on their will alone, assaulting our judicial selection system and attempting to oust our lawfully-appointed Kansas Supreme Court judges. They have attempted to render the Legislature independent of and superior to the Kansas Supreme Court.
They have expropriated monies from our institutions of higher learning, causing administrative and financial disruption, increases in Tuition payments and lowering of standards at these institutions.
They have railed against “Federal Overreach” from Washington D.C. but have simultaneously instituted “Gubernatorial Overreach” throughout Kansas from their offices in Topeka.
They have repeatedly refused to expand our Medicaid program, thus denying many low-income Kansans the health care they need, and creating dire financial difficulties at Kansas hospitals. They have instituted the largest sales tax increase in the history of Kansas.
They have continued running a financial deficit contrary to the Kansas State Constitution.
They have replaced legislative Leaders repeatedly for opposing their encroachment on the rights of Kansans.
They have allowed wealthy individuals, organizations, and corporations – the Koch Brothers, ALEC, the NRA, et al. – unlawful access to and control of our legislative processes after receiving political considerations and other rewards.
They have obstructed Kansans from lawfully participating in state and national elections.
They continue to abuse the People of Kansas without ceasing, causing national and international ridicule of our State Government.
We, Representatives of the People of the State of Kansas, do, therefore, solemnly publish and declare that this Government of King Sam and his Cohorts has earned our censure and that we have full Power to do all Things which Independent People may of right do, including the removal of King Sam and his Cohorts by referendum.
