Setter of the week

Sophomore setter Jenna DeVore has been named KJCCC Division II Volleyball Setter of the Week. DeVore recorded a double-double in five of Neosho’s six matches last week as the Lady Panthers beat a pair of ranked opponents and finished the week with a record of 4-2. DeVore finished with 200 assists, 72 digs, 13 blocks, and eight kills in the Lady Panthers’ six matches. 

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — The Neosho County Lady Panthers volleyball team claimed a pair of victories over ranked teams at the Lincoln Land Community College invitational.

Grand Rapids Community College brought a 21-4 record into the first match of the tournament. 

NCCC won the match 3-1, 25-23, 5-16, 13-25, 25-23.

Chandler Karr had 13 kills, Jenna DeVore 9 blocks, 31 assists and 14 digs.

Kayla Maples recorded 15 digs.

They followed that win with a decision over host Lincoln Land Community College 17-25, 25-15, 25-13, 25-22.

Ryed Creek had 16 kills, Karlye Wagner 8 blocks, DeVore 46 assists and Maples 20 digs.

In a five-set match, Neosho fell to Waubonsee Community College 19-25, 25-15, 25-23, 15-25, 14-16.

Chandler had 17 kills, Jenna DeVore 40 assists and Keeley Tallent 24 digs.

The No. 2 ranked Parkland College, now 45-2, handled the Panthers 25-18, 25-15, 25-19.

Karr recorded 9 kills, DeVore 23 assists and Tallent 12 digs.

NCCC, 21-20, will have its final regular season match Wednesday at Highland Community College.
